WASHINGTON, SEPTEMBER 10 /SRNA/ – Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist close to US President Donald Trump, was a man who changed the course of recent American history, the White House said in a statement published to mark the anniversary of Kirk's death.
"His courage, conviction, and love of country will never be forgotten," the White House stated on X.
The statement added that Kirk was a fearless patriot and a fighter for freedom and traditional values.
Charlie Kirk was shot dead on September 10 last year during a public appearance before students at Utah Valley University in the city of Orem. He was shot in the neck and died the same day in hospital.
Kirk had strong ties to the Serbian community in Chicago, where he played basketball for the Serbian club Illinois White Eagles.
