MOSCOW, OCTOBER 3 /SRNA/ - After destroying their relations with Russia by refusing to cooperate and imposing sanctions, Western countries are now reaping the consequences in the form of high fuel prices, high inflation, and shortages of basic goods, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said.
“Essentially, they created these problems themselves. Well, let them enjoy it,” Medvedev said in an interview with Iranian broadcaster IRIB.
He stressed that, in the meantime, Russia is threatening neither Europe nor the West and has no particular interests there other than maintaining normal relations with European nations, as the Russian leadership has repeatedly stated.
According to him, the alleged Russian threat is being promoted as an excuse to manipulate public opinion, secure votes in parliament, win elections, and obtain more money for military budgets.
“We do not want to put pressure on anyone, nor do we intend to enter into a conflict with anyone. We are perfectly satisfied with cordial relations with our neighbors, including Iran. We are not trying to dominate; we are equal partners with our friends and neighbors,” Medvedev said.
