WALTZ: WAR WILL CONTINUE UNTIL NEW NUCLEAR AGREEMENT IS SIGNED

LONDON, OCTOBER 23 /SRNA/ - The United States will continue its war with Iran until a meaningful agreement on Iran’s nuclear programme is reached, US Ambassador to the UN Michael Waltz told the Financial Times.

He said that US President Donald Trump and the US Navy could maintain the blockade of Iranian ports for the foreseeable future, and that the Trump administration would continue to increase economic pressure on Iran through sanctions until an agreement was reached on uranium enrichment in the Islamic Republic.

According to Waltz, Washington wants to eliminate existing stockpiles of highly enriched nuclear material.

Waltz stressed that it could take another year to reach a meaningful resolution to the conflict, although he expressed hope that the Iranian authorities would come to the negotiating table in a reasonable manner sooner.
