TRUMP: WASHINGTON HELD ALL-DAY TALKS WITH TEHRAN

WASHINGTON, AUGUST 5 /SRNA-Reuters/ - US President Donald Trump said that a US delegation had held all-day talks with an Iranian delegation, describing the discussions positively, but at the same time threatened tough measures if an agreement with Tehran was not reached.

"We had all-day talks. I am very pleased with the progress so far," Trump told Fox News.

He announced that the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened very soon, warning Tehran of serious consequences if it once again withdraws from the negotiations.

"If they walk away again, they will be hit very hard," Trump said.

Qatari mediators in the talks said yesterday that they were making progress in efforts to end the war with Iran, despite Tehran's denial that negotiations were taking place.
