TRUMP PRESSURES KYIV TO HALT ATTACKS ON REFINERIES

WASHINGTON, SEPTEMBER 21 /SRNA/ - US President Donald Trump pressured Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky during a phone call to halt strikes on oil refineries in Russia, the British Financial Times reported.

According to the newspaper, Trump repeatedly asked Zelensky to stop missile and drone attacks, expressing concern that the strikes were causing further shortages of fuel and driving up prices.

A senior Ukrainian official said that Trump had pointed to rising diesel prices and wanted to ensure that Russian oil reached global markets to ease the pressure.

Following his conversation with Trump, Zelensky said they had had an “important conversation” and that his meeting with the US president on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly “could change a lot.”

Zelensky’s office said it expected him to meet with Trump tomorrow.
