TRUMP ANNOUNCES END TO TARIFF ON IRISH WHISKEY

DUNBEG, SEPTEMBER 13 /SRNA/ – US President Donald Trump said at the end of a golf tournament in Ireland that he plans to scrap the 15% tariff on Irish whiskey.

Speaking during the trophy presentation at the Irish Open, Trump said he had been repeatedly asked about the issue, including by some of the golfers.

"Everyone is bothering me to do it. And I say: On behalf of the United States, I will remove the tariffs on Irish whiskey," the US president said.

Irish whiskey is currently subject to a 15% tariff imposed by Trump on imports from the European Union. In May, Trump announced that he was removing certain tariffs on British whiskey, including Scotch whisky and spirits produced in Northern Ireland.

Trump's surprise announcement at the end of the tournament was met with loud cheers and applause from the crowd, the Associated Press reported.
