MOSCOW, AUGUST 3 /SRNA/ - Russia’s Federal Security Service /FSB/ said it had detained a foreign national in Stavropol who was planning to blow up the prosecutor’s office building in Pyatigorsk and flee to Syria.
"A terrorist attack planned by a citizen of one of the Central Asian countries, born in 2001 and a supporter of an international terrorist organisation banned in Russia, has been thwarted in Stavropol Krai," the FSB said in a statement.
The statement said that, on the instructions of a member of a terrorist organisation in Syria, the terrorist planned to carry out a remote-controlled bombing of the prosecutor’s office in Pyatigorsk.
"For this purpose, he carried out reconnaissance of the area and obtained components needed to manufacture an explosive device. He planned to travel to Syria after the terrorist attack and join the terrorist organisation," the FSB added.
