TENS OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE BRACE FOR A STORM

BOSTON, SEPTEMBER 25 /SRNA/ - More than 40 million people in the northeastern United States are bracing for a powerful storm bringing heavy rain and strong winds.

The cities of New York, Boston and Philadelphia are preparing for the storm, and authorities have warned of possible flooding, fallen trees and damage to the power grid.

British musician Ed Sheeran cancelled a concert near Boston because of the storm, whose winds could reach up to 100 kilometres per hour, AFP reported.

The US Federal Aviation Administration /FAA/ has advised passengers to check its website for travel updates, as “there is always a chance that flights may be cancelled due to severe weather.”

Three major airlines, JetBlue, United and American Airlines, have issued travel alerts allowing passengers to change their itineraries at no additional cost.

During the week, flooding had already affected several coastal areas of North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and New Jersey.
