ROME, MAY 11 /SRNA/ - Strikes by Italian air traffic controllers and budget airline EasyJet led to the cancellation of 160 flights during the day, a spokesperson for Rome airports told DPA.
The strikes were scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Rome and Naples, with limited strike action at other Italian airports.
Passengers were advised to check flight statuses before heading to the airport.
Disruptions were limited to Fiumicino, Rome's main airport, while Ciampino, the capital's second airport, was not affected, ANSA reported.
Naples Airport said that 44 flights had been canceled and that there were no major difficulties for passengers, most of whom had been informed in advance by their airlines and did not come to the airport.
ITA Airways previously announced that 38 percent of all its flights, including international departures, would be canceled today.
