SAVANNAH, AUGUST 20 /SRNA/ - A U.S. Army engineering unit is offering its members a special bonus if they extend their military contracts soon - four additional days off that coincide with the November release of the video game "Grand Theft Auto VI" /GTA 6/, AP reported.
Commanders of the 9th Engineer Battalion, stationed at Fort Stewart in Georgia, said that time off to enjoy the latest installment in the GTA series could persuade some soldiers to extend their military commitments.
"The career counselor in the battalion came up with the idea together with the commanders to tie the retention incentive to the game's release, among other things, to remind soldiers that their contract extension dates are approaching," Lieutenant Colonel Angel Tomko, a Fort Stewart spokesman, said.
The video game, in which players steal cars, carry out daring heists and flee from police, is scheduled for release on November 19 and is considered one of the biggest events in the entertainment industry this year.
