RINKEVIČS: SERIOUS WEAKNESSES IN DRONE DEFENSE

MOSCOW, SEPTEMBER 19 /SRNA-RIA Novosti/ – and NATO are struggling to keep pace with the rapid development of drone warfare and face serious shortcomings in defending against unmanned aerial vehicles, Latvian President Edgars Rinkevičs has stated.

"What we are seeing is that air defense, drone defense and anti-ballistic missile defense all have serious problems. Let's be honest: Ukraine has them. Europe as a whole and NATO have them as well," Rinkevičs said in an interview with The Guardian.

Russia has repeatedly said in recent years that it has observed a significant buildup of NATO forces along its western borders, which the alliance says is intended to deter potential Russian aggression.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has also repeatedly said that Moscow remains open to an equal dialogue with NATO and has called on Western countries to abandon what it calls the militarization of Europe.
