MOSCOW, SEPTEMBER 6 /SRNA-RIA Novosti/ — During the talks with US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed the need to address all the root causes of the conflict in Ukraine, Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters.
He noted that the Russian side had provided clear and comprehensive assessments of developments during the special military operation.
"They particularly highlighted the Russian military's progress in the combat zone, expressed confidence that its objectives would be achieved and, of course, stressed the need to address all the root causes of the conflict," Ushakov said.
He added that the "US representatives had prepared seriously for this trip" and had "formulated a number of ideas on possible ways to resolve the conflict."
"Economic issues and potential major, mutually beneficial Russian-US projects were discussed in detail," Ushakov told reporters.
Ushakov stated that the talks were held in both a working and informal atmosphere over dinner.
Ushakov concluded by saying that the presidents of Russia and the US would "continue to maintain personal contacts" and that “they would continue work along the lines pursued by Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner."
Putin met with Witkoff and Kushner at the Kremlin yesterday, with the talks lasting more than three hours.
