PUTIN: HIGH TURNOUT GIVES THE DUMA LEGITIMACY

MOSCOW, SEPTEMBER 28 /SRNA – RIA Novosti/ – High voter turnout ensured the unquestionable legitimacy of the elections to the State Duma, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, adding that all attempts to disrupt the campaign and interfere in Russia’s internal affairs had completely failed.

Putin said at a meeting with the leaders of the parties that won seats in the Duma that the election campaign in Russia had been extensive and highly significant.

“The official results of the election campaign have been announced. It was very large and extremely significant for our country. I congratulate you and your supporters on your success and the results achieved,” the Russian president said.

Putin said that the elections had been orgszed at the highest level in terms of compliance with the law.

“All members of the electoral commissions adhered to both the spirit and the letter of the law,” the Russian president stated.
