PUTIN CONGRATULATES XI ON 77TH ANNIVERSARY OF FOUNDING OF PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA

MOSCOW, OCTOBER 1 /SRNA-RIA Novosti/ - Russian President Vladimir Putin sent congratulations to Chinese President Xi Jinping on the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

"Dear Mr Xi Jinping, dear friend, please accept my warmest congratulations on the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China", read a message published on the Kremlin website.

Putin said that under Xi's leadership, China was achieving impressive results and making a significant contribution to addressing key issues on the international agenda.

"Under your leadership, China is achieving impressive successes in the socio-economic, scientific and technological spheres and making a significant contribution to resolving key regional and global issues", the message said.

Putin noted that Russia-China relations were at a historic high and that the two countries were coordinating their efforts in international affairs in support of a multipolar world.

He expressed confidence that his meeting with the Chinese leader during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation /APEC/ summit would be productive and contribute to strengthening their comprehensive partnership.

The founding day of the People's Republic of China, also known as China's National Day, is celebrated in commemoration of October 1, 1949, when Mao Zedong formally proclaimed the establishment of the People's Republic of China in Beijing's Tiananmen Square, marking the end of the Chinese Civil War
