PILLAI: NOBEL PEACE PRIZE IS GREATEST HONOR

JOHANNESBURG, OCTOBER 9 /SRNA/ - This year’s Nobel Peace Prize laureate, jurist Navi Pillay, said the award was the greatest honor she could receive and that it had come as a complete surprise to her.

"This is the greatest honor that has been bestowed upon me," Pillay said at a news conference following the announcement by the Norwegian Nobel Committee.

She added that she was dedicating the award to all those who had survived atrocities and to those who continued to defend international justice.

"Their courage continues to assure us that impunity will not be allowed," Pillay stressed, adding that the world must be united in defending the rule of law, news agencies reported.
