PARIS, SEPTEMBER 2 /SRNA – RIA Novosti/ – German Chancellor Friedrich Merz is trying to frighten voters ahead of important state elections by blaming Russia, French Patriotes party leader Florian Philippot warned.

“Several days ahead of the decisive elections in the state of Saxony-Anhalt this Sunday, in which the Alternative for Germany /AfD/, which advocates peace and Germany’s withdrawal from the EU, is expected to win for the first time, Chancellor Merz’s hysteria is obvious. The aim of this maneuver is to create fear and a war atmosphere in order to intimidate voters,” Philippot posted on X.

He added that the federal government could go so far as to completely cancel the elections in the name of the war against Russia.

On August 5, police in Leipzig announced that an airport employee had discovered a drone carrying explosives in the security zone of Leipzig Airport designated for cargo flights.

The German Government baselessly accused Russia of being behind the incident, which Moscow dismissed as a hasty provocation.
