PARLIAMENT VOTES TO SUSPEND MAGYAR'S PARLIAMENTARY IMMUNITY

BUDAPEST, SEPTEMBER 28 /SRNA - RIA Novosti/ - The Hungarian Parliament voted to lift the parliamentary immunity of Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar.

According to a broadcast published on the Parliament's website, all 139 lawmakers present unanimously voted in favor of lifting Magyar's parliamentary immunity, while lawmakers from the Fidesz and Christian Democratic People's Party boycotted the vote.

The Hungarian Prosecutor's Office requested that Magyar's parliamentary immunity be lifted over suspicions that he committed theft in 2024, when he allegedly took a mobile phone from a man at a nightclub in Budapest and threw it into the Danube.
