OVER 140 PEOPLE ARRESTED IN PARIS

PARIS, JULY 15 /SRNA - RIA Novosti/ - French police have made more than 140 arrests in Paris and the suburbs of the French capital after the French national team's defeat by Spain in the semi-finals of the World Cup, the sports outlet RMC Sport reported, citing an unnamed police source.

Police have arrested 141 people, and most of the cases are related to the throwing of fireworks at police officers.

Riots also broke out in the center of Lyon, where young people who had gathered in the square to watch the match also threw fireworks at police officers.

Spain advanced to the final after last night's victory over France with a score of 2:0.
