TEL AVIV, JULY 12 /SRNA/ – Israel's parliamentary elections will be held on Oct. 27, as stipulated by law, Knesset legal adviser Sagit Afik has stated.
"The current Knesset will complete its full term and will not be dissolved early. The election date remains the one established by law - Oct. 27," Afik was quoted as saying by The Times of Israel.
She said the parliament would be dissolved on July 17.
If the elections are held as scheduled, they will be Israel's first regular parliamentary elections since 1988.
At the same time, the current government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will become the first Israeli government to complete a full term since 1973.
Israel's 37th government was formed on Dec. 29, 2022, following the collapse of the government led by Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid.
