NEIL ARMSTRONG'S CHILDHOOD HOME PUT UP FOR SALE

WAPAKONETA, AUGUST 5 /SRNA/ - The house in the city of Wapakoneta, Ohio, where astronaut Neil Armstrong lived with his parents as a boy and where he developed his first interest in airplanes and space exploration, has been put up for sale for the first time in nearly four decades, the AP reported.

"Upstairs, at the end of an old wooden staircase, is Armstrong's childhood bedroom, from the back window of which he would launch model airplanes to measure how far they could fly. Today, the room contains photographs bearing the autographs of astronauts who have visited this private home to see the place where Armstrong's first steps towards the Moon began," the portal reported.

Armstrong's two-story family home is occasionally visited by visitors to the Armstrong Air & Space Museum in Wapakoneta, although the house itself is not open for public tours.

The home is owned by retired history teacher Karen Mixsel, who has been dedicated to preserving its historical significance and distinctive appearance. When Mixsel bought the house in 1988, she did not know who had once lived there until a fellow teacher soon revealed its history to her.
