NEARLY 1,400 PEOPLE SUSPECTED OF DRUG TRAFFICKING DETAINED

ISTANBUL, AUGUST 24 /SRNA – RIA Novosti/ - Turkish security forces detained nearly 1,400 people suspected of drug trafficking and seized more than 2.3 million tablets containing narcotics, the Interior Ministry said.

“During raids in 71 provinces over the past 15 days, 843.5 kilograms of drugs and 2,312,455 tablets containing psychoactive substances were seized. A total of 1,368 suspects were detained, 807 of whom were arrested,” the ministry said in a statement.

Nearly 5,000 police officers, 48 specially trained drug-detection dogs and 14 aircraft took part in the operation.
