MOSCOW, OCTOBER 29 /SRNA/ – The third Russia–Africa Summit ended with the adoption of the Moscow Declaration, which reaffirms a commitment to shaping a fair and democratic multipolar world order, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

Putin said the summit had been successful and would provide a strong impetus for the development of Russian-African relations.

“Russia sincerely seeks to build a strategic partnership with Africa, and this desire is mutual,” the Russian leader said at the closing press conference.

Speaking about the declaration, Putin said the document established an action plan through 2029 and reaffirmed a commitment to shaping a multipolar world order based on universally recognised principles of international law and the UN Charter.

He stressed that the world had changed significantly and that international institutions were ripe for reform, a view shared by both Russia and African countries.

Putin said he was confident that trade between Russia and Africa would increase.

“The current level of trade between Russia and African countries, which stands at $27 billion, is not the limit - it is only the beginning,” Putin said.

He stressed that Russia would remain a reliable supplier of grain to Africa, both on a contractual basis and free of charge.

“Russia and African countries have discussed cooperation in the energy sector in detail. Russia is ready to cooperate in the field of nuclear energy,” the Russian president added.

The Russian leader announced plans to hold the next Russia–Africa Summit, with the date and venue to be agreed upon in due course, Sputnik reported.
