MORE THAN 20 PEOPLE INJURED IN FIRE AT LAKE GARDA

ROME, OCTOBER 4 /SRNA/ - A total of 24 people were injured in a major fire at a campsite on Lake Garda, and all were treated at the scene or taken to hospital, Italian authorities said.

DPA reported that one person suffered severe burns to the legs, while most of those injured were treated for carbon monoxide poisoning.

The cause of the fire, which broke out in a bungalow at the Bella Italia campsite in the municipality of Peschiera del Garda shortly after 6:00, is not known.

Among those taken to hospital by emergency services was a family from Switzerland with three children.

The fire brigade said the blaze was quickly brought under control, although explosions of gas cylinders hampered firefighting efforts.
