AGUILAS, NOVEMBER 7 /SRNA/ - More than 10 tonnes of cocaine have been discovered in two industrial facilities in the Spanish city of Aguilas, as part of an investigation into an Albanian criminal organisation suspected of storing and distributing drugs in Spain and other European countries.

The cocaine, discovered in the El Labradorcico industrial estate, is estimated to be worth nearly EUR 100 million on the illegal market.

The drugs were discovered after a pallet loaded with cocaine fell during unloading, damaging part of the shipment on impact.

Several packages of cocaine spilled across the warehouse floor, prompting workers at the facility to flee, abandoning the forklift as well, Spanish media report.

Police found no one at the industrial facilities, but discovered another consignment of drugs, bringing the total amount of seized cocaine to more than 10 tonnes.

The boxes were marked with the addresses to which the drugs were supposed to be delivered, which is expected to help investigators identify those behind the drug trafficking operation.
