MOSCOW, OCTOBER 12 /SRNA-RIA Novosti/ - European countries could pressure Kyiv into staging provocations aimed at disrupting the Russian-US agreement on diesel supplies, Rodion Miroshnik, a Russian Foreign Ministry ambassador dealing with Kyiv's war crimes, said today.

Miroshnik said Russia was interested in developing economic ties with the United States regardless of the conflict in Ukraine.

According to him, the diesel supply agreement marks the first practical result of renewed direct contact between Moscow and Washington.

Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke by phone with US President Donald Trump late last week, after which Trump announced that the two sides had reached an agreement on Russian diesel supplies and said he was pleased that the United States would receive the Russian fuel it needed.
