MAN CATCHES CHILD FALLING FROM THIRD STOREY

BERLIN, OCTOBER 7 /SRNA/ - A six-year-old girl fell from the third floor of a building in Berlin but was caught by a 34-year-old man standing below the window.

The girl suffered only minor injuries and was taken to hospital for observation.

The incident happened last night at accommodation for homeless people. The man noticed the girl at an open window and positioned himself underneath it. Shortly afterwards, the child fell and he managed to catch her before she hit the ground, Berlin public broadcaster RBB reported.

Police later found two other girls, aged two and five, in the room. No adult was with them, so officers temporarily took care of the children.

The parents were not at the accommodation at the time of the incident and, according to witnesses, had gone shopping.

Police are now investigating the circumstances in which the children were left alone.

Proceedings have been launched against the mother on suspicion of breaching her duty of supervision over the child.
