LIFE IMPRISONMENT FOR THREE FRENCH NATIONALS FOR MEMBERSHIP IN ISLAMIC STATE

BAGHDAD, OCTOBER 29 /SRNA - RIA Novosti/ - The criminal court in the Baghdad neighborhood of Al-Karkh sentenced three French nationals to life in prison for membership in the Islamic State, the court's press office said.

It says the hearings were attended by the defendants' lawyers and representatives of the French Embassy in Iraq.

The court said that the three were among a group of 47 French nationals transferred to Iraqi authorities after being detained in northeastern Syria.
