JULY HOTTEST MONTH IN 132 YEARS

WASHINGTON, AUGUST 11 /SRNA/ – The last July was the hottest in the United States record history, with an average temperature of just under 25 degrees Celsius, announced the National Centers for Environmental Information.

“This was the hottest July and the hottest month in the past 132 years,” the statement said, adding that the first weather data began to be collected in 1895.

The information applies to the United States, excluding Alaska and Hawaii.

The average temperature across the area in July was 1.8 degrees Celsius above the 20th-century average. Despite overall precipitation being below average, several regions experienced heavy rainfall, including major flooding in the hilly part of Texas and eastern New York State, the statement said.

“Temperatures significantly above average were recorded across much of the interior West, Southwest, Rocky Mountains, Northern Plains and Upper Midwest, as well as parts of the Gulf Coast and Southeast,” the Center said.

July is typically the hottest month of the year in this area.
