HUGE WHITE HYDROGEN DEPOSIT DISCOVERED

PARIS, JULY 28 /SRNA – RIA Novosti/ - A huge deposit of white hydrogen, potentially the largest in the world, has been discovered in the Lorraine coal basin in northeastern France, Le Monde reported, citing the French energy company FDE.

The company confirmed an exceptionally high concentration of natural hydrogen based on data from an exploratory borehole drilled to a depth of 3,655 metres.

FDE recorded a hydrogen concentration of 36.1 percent at a depth of 2,242 metres and 49.6 percent at a depth of 2,426 metres.

The initial data confirmed the 2023 hypothesis that hydrogen concentrations increase with greater depth.

Researchers and industry experts have found confirmation that a natural hydrogen production system exists throughout the entire Lorraine coal basin.

Jacques Pironon, director of the French National Centre for Scientific Research, believes that the deposit could contain around 34 million tonnes of hydrogen, based on the amount dissolved in water and the volume of the mapped aquifer.

He stated that this conclusion is preliminary and subject to further verification.

Natural or white hydrogen is found in the Earth’s crust and has the potential to become a clean and renewable fuel.
