HONG KONG, OCTOBER 27 /SRNA/ - Hong Kong has hosted a conference on green innovation under the Belt and Road Initiative, attended by nearly 300 participants from more than 20 countries.

China is committed to integrating the principles of green development into every stage and area of economic and social development, Chinese Minister of Ecology and Environment Huang Runqiu said.

"Guided by the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind, China continues to deepen international cooperation on the green and low-carbon transition, as well as on nature and environmental protection," Huang said.

The green innovation conference, held in Hong Kong yesterday, brought together officials, experts and industry representatives to discuss sustainable development and ways to speed up the green transition in Global South countries, China Media Group reported.

Huang said the green Belt and Road draws on China's industrial and technological strengths, responds to the development needs of different countries and helps drive the green transition across the Global South.

Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee said the city is well placed to provide professional services to Belt and Road partners.

"These services include financing, project management and risk management for green infrastructure and sustainable development projects," Lee said.
