BEIJING, SEPTEMBER 6 /SRNA/ — The death toll from flooding in a port area in Tibet, China, has risen to 43, while 519 people remain missing, Xinhua reported.
The port is located near the border with Nepal, where floods 11 days ago claimed more than 1,300 lives and left around 5,000 people missing.
The flash flood occurred after a huge mass of ice broke away from a glacier and surged into the region's river systems. The torrent of ice, water, rocks and debris swept away settlements, bridges, roads and hydropower plants.
