BEIJING, OCTOBER 3 /SRNA/ - The first joint Russian-Chinese rock festival has opened in Beijing, with nine bands set to perform at the Exhibition Centre over two days, showcasing the diversity and distinctive rock sounds of the two nations, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported.

The major festival, being held today and tomorrow, offers visitors an opportunity to hear a range of rock genres, from classic rock to alternative and folk rock.

Bands including "Goroda", "Multfilmi", "Gauga", "Seven Grand", "Zhega", "Erguna" and "Janpinghua" are taking the stage alongside the well-known Russian alternative rock band SLOT.

Tatiana Urzhumtseva, director of the Russian Cultural Centre in Beijing, said that the festival is part of a major project launched in Beijing in April 2026, followed by the NAMI festival in Moscow in August, and now moving to stages in China.

Admission to the concert is free for everyone, although online pre-registration was required to obtain a ticket.

Urzhumtseva told RIA Novosti that Russian rock attracts Chinese listeners because of its epic nature, the breadth of its themes and sincerity, and that Chinese rock artists can impress Russian audiences with their melodic depth and philosophical sound.
