PARIS, OCTOBER 5 /SRNA-RIA Novosti/ - A fire broke out today aboard France's only nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, the Charles de Gaulle, which is undergoing repairs in the port of Toulon, French media reported.

The fire started in a small technical compartment next to an empty hangar. Firefighters took about two hours to extinguish the blaze.

The French Navy said in a statement that no one was injured and that the incident had no impact on the ship's nuclear components.

The statement said the fire was believed to have started during welding work.

The aircraft carrier returned to its home port in Toulon in July after completing a mission in the Middle East.
