FICO: BRATISLAVA WILL NOT RECEIVE ORDERS FROM OTHERS

BRATISLAVA, SEPTEMBER 4 /SRNA - RIA Novosti/ - Slovakia will not accept attempts to restrict the right of veto on decisions in certain areas of the European Union, nor it will be the country that receives orders from others, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said.

"Attempts by some EU countries to limit the veto right in some areas such as taxes, the budget, defense, foreign policy and migration are a red line for us. I cannot imagine us going to Brussels as a country that will receive orders from others," Fico told a press conference following talks with Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev in Sofia.

According to him, it is unacceptable that large countries reach an agreement, and small countries have to obey.

He added that the veto right guarantees the EU's viability and its ability to reach important compromises.
