NEW YORK, JUNE 3 /SRNA/ - The United Nations General Assembly will hold a vote today on the election of five new non-permanent members of the UN Security Council, the UN announced.
It was announced that one country from Africa, one from the Asia-Pacific region, one from Latin America and the Caribbean, and two countries from the Western European and "others" group will be elected today.
The five previously elected non-permanent members, whose two-year terms end on December 31 this year, are Somalia, Pakistan, Panama, Denmark and Greece.
The mandate of the next five non-permanent members begins on January 1 next year and ends on December 31, 2028.
