DING: OPENNESS AND COOPERATION IN SERVICES TRADE IS NECESSITY

BEIJING, SEPTEMBER 10 /SRNA/ — Greater openness and cooperation in the services sector and the expansion of trade in services are not only in China’s interest but are essential to the global economy, Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang stated.

"China is actively promoting trade in services and further opening up its services sector," Ding said at the Global Trade in Services Summit in Beijing, adding that these efforts are creating new opportunities for countries and companies around the world.

He stated that, as the global economic and trade landscape continues to evolve, it is necessary to strengthen the mutually reinforcing relationship between the services sector and trade in services in order to provide better support for the economic and social development of all countries.

Ding called for measures to reduce barriers to the cross-border movement of factors of production, promote greater liberalization and facilitate trade in services, the China Media Group reported.

"Such efforts will help ensure the stable and long-term development of the sector in a fair and inclusive manner," the Chinese vice premier added.

Ding also called on countries to promote the sharing of digital and intelligent technologies, such as artificial intelligence and to strengthen connectivity between global digital infrastructure in order to provide fresh impetus to the development of trade in services.

The 2026 summit was organized by the Beijing municipal government, China's Ministry of Commerce, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and the World Organization for Intellectual Property.
