CARACAS, JUNE 26 /SRNA - RIA Novosti/ - The death toll from two devastating earthquakes in Venezuela has risen to 589, Venezuelan acting President Delcy Rodríguez said.
She said 2,980 people were injured.
Earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale struck Venezuela less than a minute apart on Wednesday night, prompting authorities to declare a state of emergency.
Venezuelan Health Minister Carlos Alvarado said earlier today that the death toll had risen to 235.
A total of 45,527 people were listed as missing after the earthquake by the website Desaparecios Teremoto Venezuela. The list was compiled based on reports from users of the site trying to find missing loved ones.
