BEIJING, SEPTEMBER 2 /SRNA-Reuters/ - The number of confirmed deaths in China’s Tibet region following devastating floods in the Himalayas last week has risen to 21, while 541 people remain missing, Chinese state media reported.

At least 1,114 people have been killed, and nearly 4,000 remain missing in neighbouring Nepal, seven days after the collapse of a Himalayan glacier triggered flooding that devastated the mountainous region.

In Nepal, families have begun holding symbolic funerals for those who lost their lives.

Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that 324 foreign nationals had been rescued, while another 590 people from 39 countries remain missing.
