DEATH TOLL FROM EARTHQUAKE RISES TO 190

BOGOTA, AUGUST 12 /SRNA – RIA Novosti/ - At least 190 people have been killed and 1,679 injured in an earthquake in Colombia, the Association of Colombian Cities said.

"A total of 190 people have been killed in the following cities: 95 in Cali, 81 in Pereira, nine in Quibdó and five in Manizales.

A total of 1,679 people have been injured: 999 in Cali, 278 in Pereira, 174 in Armenia, 116 in Quibdó and 112 in Manizales," the statement said.

In the city of Cali, 239 people remain trapped under the rubble, and 180 people are still listed as missing, the statement said.

A total of 243 buildings have collapsed in the five major cities hardest hit by the earthquake - Pereira, Quibdó, Manizales, Armenia and Cali.
