BEIJING, NOVEMBER 5 /SRNA/ – Beijing has criticized the Taiwanese authorities for aligning with US policy at the expense of the island's interests, China Media Group reported.

Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of China's State Council, criticized Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party /DPP/, accusing it of pursuing US policies for the sake of its own political interests, particularly in the semiconductor sector, while disregarding the interests of the economy and the well-being of the island's population.

Zhu made these remarks in response to a question about recent announcements by the Taiwanese authorities that they were considering tightening export controls on high-tech products, including advanced chips, which could restrict exports to certain markets, including mainland China.

She pointed out that such measures disrupt the normal business operations of companies.

Zhu stressed that mainland China is committed to strengthening its own capabilities and achieving greater self-reliance in science and technology, adding that attempts to contain and block China's development have neither succeeded nor will they succeed in halting its progress.

She also called on business entities on both sides of the Taiwan Strait to enhance cooperation in relevant fields.
