PARIS, OCTOBER 8 /SRNA - RIA Novosti/ - Classes at 375 high schools in France were fully or partially suspended this morning due to street protests, the Ministry of Education said.
A total of 224 high schools could not open, while 151 were operating partially, according to a statement cited by BFMTV broadcaster.
Compared with yesterday, the number of schools affected was 30 percent lower. The ministry noted that 94 percent of all high schools were fully or partially open this morning.
High school and university students in France have been protesting for the second consecutive week over overcrowded schedules, a shortage of teachers and other problems in the education sector.
More than 6,600 people have been detained during the protests, most of them minors.
