CHILDREN - THE GREATEST VICTIMS OF ADVANCES IN MILITARY TECHNOLOGY

LONDON, SEPTEMBER 21 /SRNA/ - More than 12,000 children were killed or injured between 2020 and 2025 as artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies changed the ways conflicts are waged, according to a study by Save the Children.

According to the study, children accounted for nearly half of all civilian casualties caused by landmines and explosive remnants of war in conflicts fought between 2020 and 2025.

The growing use of drones and artificial intelligence in conflicts is creating a new threat at a time when more than five children are killed every day in conflicts around the world, the British daily newspaper The Independent reported.

The study found that two-thirds of injuries among civilians were caused by explosives activated from the air, including drones.
