YAOUNDE, AUGUST10 /SRNA – RIA Novosti/ – Cameroon’s 93-year-old President Paul Biya left for Europe two months ago and has not returned to the country since, the Associated Press reported.
The President’s Office announced he had traveled to Europe on a short private trip, while the Government later confirmed that the president was in Switzerland.
The Agency said his prolonged absence has raised concerns about his health, as Biya spends much of his time in Europe, particularly in France and Switzerland, while key party officials and members of his family run affairs in the country during his absence.
Biya, the world’s oldest president, has been leading Cameroon since 1982. He began his eighth presidential term in November 2025.
