CALL TO COUNTRIES TO JOIN FORCES ON AI CAPACITY-BUILDING

BEIJING, OCTOBER 27 /SRNA/ - China has welcomed more countries joining the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization and invites them to explore ways of cooperating in capacity-building.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said China also welcomes the exploration of new paths for international cooperation in AI capacity-building and concrete actions to advance the development of artificial intelligence for the benefit of all.

He stressed that artificial intelligence is a new area of global governance and a kind of test of the effectiveness of the global governance system.

"The global governance system cannot become more just and equitable without jointly strengthening the capacities of Global South countries, and concrete efforts are needed to strengthen the representation and voice of developing countries," he said.

Guo said China advocates respect for the digital sovereignty of all countries.

He believes that every country has the right to possess the basic capacities for independent development of artificial intelligence and to seek a development path suited to its national conditions and practical needs, one that enables the application of artificial intelligence in real-world circumstances, the solving of concrete problems and the creation of lasting value.

Guo was answering a question about the Progress Report on the Implementation of the AI Capacity-Building Action Plan for Good and for All, which China released at the 2026 Global Governance Forum, as well as about China's position on the role of AI capacity-building in global governance, China Media Group reported.
