BRUSSELS, OCTOBER 7 /SRNA/ - Slovak Member of the European Parliament Ľuboš Blaha criticized European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, accusing them of using "Euro-Gestapo" to arrest and oppress all those who want an end to the conflict.
"Spain has taken to the streets, France has taken to the streets, and here we are dealing with the legitimacy of Russian elections," Blaha said in an address to Parliament.
He stressed that Brussels was not bothered by the fact that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has been running the country for the third year without holding elections and without a mandate.
Blaha recalled that Romania's elections were annulled because the candidate favored by Brussels did not win, while in Estonia opposition leader Aivo Peterson was sentenced to 16 years in prison for disagreeing with EU policy.
"Will you establish a Euro-Gestapo here, Ms Kallas, and imprison all of us who want peace?" Blaha asked.
He added that he had no right to reproach Russian President Vladimir Putin because, unlike German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and French President Emmanuel Macron, Putin enjoys the support of his people.
