WASHINGTON, SEPTEMBER 15 /SRNA/ – The average price of diesel fuel in the United States has reached a record $6.27 per gallon /approximately 3.8 liters/, announced the American Automobile Association.
Diesel prices in the USA exceeded $6 per gallon for the first time last week. The previous record of $5.80 was recorded in July 2022.
At the beginning of 2025, a gallon of diesel in the USA cost an average of less than $3.50, while the price has increased by 170 percent since then.
In California, where fuel prices are generally higher than the national average, the price of diesel has exceeded $8.20, with some gas stations charging more than $9 per gallon.
Diesel prices directly affect the cost of goods, as this fuel is used to power agricultural machinery and freight vehicles involved in supply chains, RIA Novosti notes.
