AUTHORITIES INVESTIGATE CANNIBALISM CASE IN BUDAPEST

BUDAPEST, JUNE 23 /SRNA/ – Hungarian police said they are investigating a hospital porter in Budapest suspected of collecting and storing human body parts in his apartment for consumption.

The man suspected of cannibalism is 30 years old.

Police officers who searched his home seized human bones, a lower leg, a hand, several skulls and a preserved human face.

During questioning, the suspect reportedly stated that he was attracted to human body parts and had already cooked and consumed some of them, according to the DPA news agency.

He allegedly obtained some body parts at his workplace, while others were exhumed from cemeteries in Hungary and neighboring Slovakia.

The suspect openly discussed his morbid fascination with family members and friends and even photographed his "collection", which was also seized by police.

The man, whose job involved transporting patients within the hospital, was initially arrested on June 17 and is currently under judicial supervision.

The public prosecutor's office is investigating him on suspicion of violating the dignity of the deceased.
