ATTACKS ON REMOTE VOTING SYSTEM SUCCESSFULLY BLOCKED

MOSCOW, SEPTEMBER 19 /SRNA-RIA Novosti/ – Attacks targeting Moscow's remote electronic voting system are being successfully repelled, Russian Central Election Commission Chair Ella Pamfilova said.

Pamfilova said at a news conference that Moscow's electronic voting system had been under heavy attack since last night.

"This attack has continued almost without interruption, on a very large scale and with great intensity. At the same time, remote electronic voting is under way in Moscow and everything is functioning normally. All attacks have been successfully repelled and continue to be repelled," Pamfilova said.

Elections to the lower house of the Russian parliament, along with regional elections, are being held from September 18 to 20.

A total of 20,700 elected seats and posts are expected to be filled.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has described the parliamentary elections as the country's most important domestic political event.
