900 WILDFIRES ACTIVE ACROSS CANADA

WASHINGTON, JULY 17 /SRNA/ - Nearly 900 wildfires are currently active across Canada, according to data from the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre.

According to the centre`s latest figures, 893 wildfires are active, including 26 that broke out today and 209 classified as out of control.

The highest numbers of active wildfires have been recorded in Ontario /193/, the Northwest Territories /188/, Quebec /186/ and Manitoba /142/.

In addition, 25 wildfires have been reported in Canada`s national parks.

Since the beginning of the year, more than 3,640 wildfires have been recorded across Canada, affecting 2.77 million hectares.
