6.2-MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE STRIKES THE BANDA SEA

JAKARTA, SEPTEMBER 11 /SRNA-Reuters/ – An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale struck the Banda Sea in Indonesia, near the Maluku Islands, the country’s national geophysics agency said.

The epicenter was at a depth of 143 kilometers. There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

The Banda Sea is part of the Pacific Ocean in Indonesia.
